This weekend, 100 developers, designers, and makers gathered at Apportable HQ to wrestle with ways we can use devices to hack into our neural pathways. From anxiety and panic suppression, to speed reading, to chair flying flight simulators, to mood bracelets, we saw some incredible projects produced over the course of two days – several of which artfully integrated Leap Motion technology.

Last week, we saw how touchless gaming can train your brain and help with physical rehab. But what if the Leap Motion Controller could be used to control medical devices during heart surgery? Plus, real-time sign language translation, 10 tips for getting your app into Airspace, and a wall that responds to human movements. To […]

Could 3D interfaces make it possible for people with eye problems to see in three dimensions? James Blaha has strabismus or “cross-eye,” which means that his brain ignores input from his non-dominant eye. By creating a game that forces your eyes to work together, he hopes to offer a therapeutic virtual-reality solution that makes it fun for people to overcome their amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus with games.

Around the world, artists and developers are using the Leap Motion Controller to break down the boundaries between art and human beings. This week on Developer Labs, we have a table transformed into a musical instrument, creative software reinvented, and how artists are using motion control to change how we experience art. Plus, highlights from […]

Want to build the next great 3D app? Get a running start with our brand-new Boilerplate asset for Unity – featured today on Developer Labs. Plus, a new WebGL demo that lets you control five different music-driven visuals. Also new this week, three.js projects, shark-punching with Oculus Rift, touchless typing, mathematical art, and basketball dribbling like […]

Can you imagine not being able to see in three dimensions? Like millions of people around the world, I have strabismus or “cross-eye,” which has caused my brain to ignore input from my non-dominant eye. While it was long thought that strabismus could not be treated after a critical threshold of 8-12 years, recent research […]

Since we released our cross-promotions feature, several developers have taken advantage of this powerful tool to create trial versions of their apps in the Leap Motion App Store. To help you get started, I’ve written a quick sample that integrates the Cross-Promotions API into apps. It’s basically a single GET request – your app simply parses […]
